The Town encourages residents and visitors to celebrate the holiday in a safe, responsible manner and to enjoy the many weekend festivities, including the spectacular fireworks show at Crowley Lake on Friday, July 4 starting at 9:00 p.m.

Watch the wind when you're watering
The Mammoth Community Water District is encouraging the public to install a pressure regulator on any outdoor sprinkler systems. Sprinkler systems with too much water pressure often produce a mist of water vapor that winds can either carry away or evaporate. Typically, water pressure in Mammoth Lakes can vary from as high as 150 psi to 50 psi. Fewer sprinkler heads operate well on a lower psi setting while more heads require more pressure. The average home has the potential to save between 30-40 thousand gallons of water per year when utilizing a pressure regulator. For further information regarding water conservation please contact the MCWD conservation department during normal business hours at 934-2596 extension 282.

Tourism and Recreation Department recognized by state
The Town of Mammoth Lakes Tourism and Recreation Department received a Marketing Excellence Award for its 2008 Annual Vacation Planner. The award was presented by the California Travel and Tourism Commission at the recent California Conference on Tourism in Palm Desert.
“Congratulations are extended to all the staff who assisted with the project and to Laura Patterson whose layout and design was able to capture the essence and excitement of this incredible area that attracts over 3 million visitors a year,” said Tourism and Recreation Director Danna Stroud.
