The Conway Fire is now mapped at 50 acres as of Saturday morning, Sept. 13 and is burning in sagebrush with some scattered pinyon pine and juniper trees, according to Inyo National Forest officials. Fire crews were able to walk the fire perimeter of the fire last night to accurately map it; this reflects the reduced acreage. The fire is 25 percent contained.
Night crews made excellent progress last night. There is initial fireline around the Conway Fire at this time. Fire crews will continue to strengthen and improve these lines today and are mopping up to cool the fireâ€™s edge.

According to the Mono County Sheriffâ€™s Department, the incident occurred on Friday, Aug. 15 at approximately 12:55 p.m. when sheriffâ€™s dispatch received a call regarding an injured climber on a ridge in the Sawtooth Ridge area.
Two climbers were attempting to climb the ridge and during their ascent, they were climbing up a 45-degree ice field with ice axes, according to a sheriffâ€™s department news release.
