In the wake of the third drought spring in a row, Mammoth’s wildlife specialist and “Bear Whisperer” Steve Searles recently made it clear that the party for people who repeatedly leave dumpsters unlocked or otherwise feed Mammoth’s bears and wildlife is over.

“It’s always been voluntary but this year, if you live here, you’ve been warned. I am going to write you a ticket,” he said at a recent Mammoth Lakes Town Council meeting.

Tioga Road to open Friday, May 2

May 1, 2014

According to Yosemite National Park, Tioga Road in Yosemite National Park will open for the season at noon tomorrow, Friday, May 2. All facilities along the road, such as rest rooms, are still closed.

Vault toilets are available in several locations along the road. Limited visitor services will be available over the next several weeks.

The May 2 date is the earliest Tioga Road opening since records were kept, beginning in 1980, according to park data.

Mammoth's Bank of America office to close Friday, May 2

The Bank of America branch in Mammoth closes its doors tomorrow, Friday, May 2. There are two ATM machines located in the "Vons mall" (the Minaret Village Shopping Center) between Another T-Shirt Shop and the Booky Joint.
