TIME FOR MAMMOTH TO PAY UP
This lawsuit has been going on now for around 14 years. I understand that the city does not want to pay and should do what it can to not pay. I would bet that if Mr. Terry Ballas owed the city of Mammoth $30 Mil they sure would not let it go this long. This is a good example of how big government can mess with someone.

The court system has more than once told the city to pay up, but still after 14 years they have not paid the man what is due him. If the city can hold out for more years, Mr. Ballas will be broke and may not be around to get what is due him.

TO THE BIATHLON VOLUNTEERS
This week proved once again how our unique geography is reflected by the amazing people that live here. Your character, flexibility and willingness to mobilize quickly created a world class event when all odds were stacked against us.
Thank you again to all who helped with the 4th Annual Mammoth Winter Biathlon.

TENNEY: ENTHUSIASTIC RESPONSE FOR GATEWAY COMMUNITY PROJECT
Contrary to Mammoth Times report (March 18, 2011), “Tenney receives lukewarm response to Gateway Monument” and “[she] got a tepid – at best – response,” I’ve found the response overwhelmingly positive and enthusiastic since December 15 when I volunteered to organize the Mammoth Gateway Community Project and complete it by November.

BODIE SHOULD BE A NATIONAL PARK
Supporting a mine or Wilderness Study Area is chump change compared to what really needs to be done with Bodie.

The supervisors should go for broke and propose national park status for the historic mining town.

Bodie is the only bona fide ghost town left in the West. It is the only place a visitor can go to experience what it was like to live in the West in the 1860s.

Based on that fact alone, Bodie is worthy of national park status. It deserves to be linked with Death Valley, Manzanar, and Yosemite.

PACKING FOR MAMMOTH TROOPS
Mammoth Troops has scheduled a packing date for Tuesday, March 22 at 6 p.m. at the Mammoth Community Center. Homebaked cookies, beef jerky, pepperoni, sundries, chapstick and sunscreen are just a few ideas of needed items. If you can’t make the packing but would like to donate any items, they can be dropped off at the Mammoth Reservations office, next to Schat’s Bakery, before that evening.

Animal Control Officer would be beneficial

We were extremely disappointed to learn that we do not have an Animal Control Officer in Mammoth Lakes due to budget cuts. It was suggested that we call the Police Department if there is a problem as if this department does not have enough on their plates.
