Five-year capital improvements plan unveiled
The airport, town streets, and town trails would get the lion’s share of capital improvement money in the 2013-14 fiscal year, according to a draft of the town’s five-year spending program.
The program, drafted by Public Works Director Ray Jarvis, was handed up to the Town Council at its meeting on Wednesday evening, May 15.
The completed document will go to the council and public following inclusion of comments and recommendations, which is anticipated to be on or before the June 19 regular council meeting.
Funding for the projects would come from a variety of different sources, mostly state and federal grant funds leveraged by the General Fund, Measure R and U tax revenues, and in private donations.
Grants make up about 89 percent of the total funding, while the town’s general fund adds about five percent of the total.
The 2013-14 fiscal year begins July 1.
For the upcoming, 2013-14 fiscal year, Mammoth-Yosemite Airport would receive $1.3 million of funding as part of a five-year plan that would send to the airport $34.3 million by the time the five-year cycle is over.
The town’s streets would get $3.8 million in funding for the upcoming fiscal year and $6.4 million in the five-year cycle.
The trail system, meanwhile, would get $1 million in the upcoming fiscal year, and $3.6 million in 2014-15, all within a five-year cycle that would send $5.2 million to the trails system.
Parks and recreation would receive $485,330 in the upcoming fiscal year and $1.1 million over the next five years, while transit would receive grant monies totaling $252,670 in the 2013-14 fiscal year.
