BREAKING: Mammoth man missing; Sacto authorities take charge in search for Lloyd Cearley

Mammoth Lakes police this afternoon confirmed a missing person report on a local man, Lloyd Cearley.

Sgt. Marc Marc Moscowitz said the missing person report was filed with law eforcement authorities in Sacramento.

He said Cearley, the promoter of the Mammoth-to-Bishop bike ride, had local ties in Mammoth, but he said the MLPD could come up with little that might aid the investigation.

Cearley, suffering from cancer, was to have checked in for a doctor's appointment in Sacramento, according to a Facebook post by his roommate in Mammoth, Garrett Martin.

"No one has heard from him since Tuesday evening," Martin wrote. "He had a serious doctor appointmen. Wednesday at 1p.m. and he never showed up.

"He left his cell phone where he was staying up in Sacramento. He might be in the Mammoth area or San Diego area."
