Michael Raimondo running for Town Council
Michael Raimondo, owner of Old New York Deli & Bagel Co. in the Village, is running for Town Council. He pulled the papers this week.
So far, only he and Mayor Jo Bacon have done the paperwork.
Councilmember Skip Harvey as of Thursday had not turned in his nomination papers. If an incumbent does not pull papers by the deadline (Friday, March 9 at 5 p.m.), the nomination deadline is moved ahead by one week, in this case Friday, March 16.
Crestview Rest Area opens today
The Crestview Safety Roadside Rest Area opens today, March 8, at 9 a.m., according to Caltrans officials. The rest area has been closed all winter. It is located on U.S. Highway 395 eight miles south of the junction of S.R. 158 (June Lake) and approximately seven miles north of Mammoth Lakes. Crestview Rest Area is one of three rest areas located in the Eastern Sierra owned and maintained by Caltrans.
Candidate deadline Friday; eight running for county supervisor so far
Eight candidates are vying for three open county supervisor seats so far. The final deadline to file is Friday, March 9, at 5 p.m.
Three candidates are running for Mono County District 4; Tim Fesko, Jan Huggans and Bob Peters.
Two candidates are running for Mono County District 3; incumbent Vikki Bauer and challenger Tim Alpers.
Two candidates are running for Mono County District 2; incumbent Duane “Hap” Hazard and challenger Fred Stump.
The filing deadline comes after the Mammoth Times goes to print, meaning it is possible more candidates could file to run by end of day, today.
