Mammoth Hospital announced the opening of a newly renovated and redesigned Chemotherapy Infusion Center, to facilitate access to cancer care services in the Eastern Sierra.

The new chemotherapy center was made possible by donations from Dave and Roma McCoy, as well as Medical Imaging Director, Dr. Yuri Parisky in collaboration with Dancing with the Docs.

Interior designer Nicole Cavanaugh of Cavanaugh Design Group and Nancy Ballard, Executive Director of Rooms That Rock 4 Chemo volunteered their time to bring the outdated room to life.

“The room is much more beautiful than we could have ever imagined. Thanks to all the volunteers and donations, patients will receive their chemotherapy in this peaceful, tranquil room for years to come,” said RN Barbara Goodwill.

Victor Hernandez, local cancer patient, did the honor of cutting the ribbon alongside several volunteers, hospital staff and contributors to the project.

The finished design boasts comfortable surroundings, from new updated furniture and lighting, to a stone wall with built-in fireplace.

The updated look incorporates comfortable leather recliners with curtains that extend out for patient privacy.

Chemotherapy Manager, Erica Wells, BSN, was very pleased in seeing the finished design.

“Nicole Cavanaugh infused this project with generosity and compassion, and the redesigned Chemotherapy Infusion Room reflects this and so much more. What was once a sterile and cluttered room has been transformed into a warm, comfortable, and calm space with Nicole’s inspiration and expertise.  We set out to create an environment where chemotherapy patients could relax and be cared for, and at the same time, not feel as though they are in a clinical hospital space.

“This room far surpassed our expectations and we hope that anyone receiving chemotherapy at Mammoth Hospital will find comfort in this special place. Thank you to Nancy Ballard from Rooms that Rock 4 Chemo and Nicole Cavanaugh of Cavanaugh Design Group for volunteering and spending countless hours toward making this project an overwhelming success.”
