OPEN INVITATION TO: COMMUNITY GARDEN COORDINATORS AND LOCAL FOOD SYSTEM ADVOCATES
WHAT: A Networking Meeting for Representatives from all the Community Gardens in Mono County and Inyo Counties, as well as Supporting Agencies, local growers and local food system advocates.
WHEN: Monday, March 18th, 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.,
WHERE: Mammoth Lakes Town Council Chambers, Suite Z, Minaret Village Shopping Center, Old Mammoth Road, upstairs next to VONS.
WHY: Community gardens and local food system projects are getting established in nearly every community in the Eastern Sierra! It is evident that it would be helpful to establish more direct and regular communications to work together on a wide variety of issues. From developing policy and working with regulatory and sponsoring agencies, to building capacity and applying for funding and resources, to sharing gardening materials, horticultural information and educational programs, we can assist each other with issues that are timely, as well as identify priorities for collaboration in the long-term.
We hope that someone can attend representing your garden, agency or organization!
Draft Agenda: A Round Table Discussion format: Suggestions welcome: What do You want to talk about?
*Introductions: Share a summary of your garden's history. (Bring photos or write-ups of your project to share!)
*Needs, Goals and Challenges: What are your needs for this season, as well as long term goals and challenges?
*Identify and Prioritize: What collaborative strategies and actions can this group pursue to address above needs, goals and challenges?
*Networking: How can we facilitate communication and collaboration? Next meeting?
Please feel free to call before the meeting for more information or to give feedback.
IMACA has offered to provide a van for coordinating transportation from Bishop. (Call Terri at 873-8557, *22.)
Thank you and looking forward,
