Digital 395 project might get July 31 deadline extension

April 16, 2013

County officials said the Digital 395 project is almost done in Northern Mono County and is slated to move into Inyo National Forest lands sometime soon, pending a few more necessary permits.

The 632-mile long high-speed broadband fiber project will link Carson City to Southern California, mostly in four-feet deep trenches that parallel U.S. 395. The massive American Reinvestment and Recovery Act project faces a tight deadline—this July 31—but county officials said Tuesday that the private developer of the project, Praxis Associates, might get an extension from the federal government, if it is looking like the deadline cannot be met.
