If the opening day of the Village Championships is any indication, the 2013 season is going to be a doozy.
Racing under clear skies and seasonably warm temperatures, local racers had a fat bed of snow to work with, and some very fast times.
Valerie Borges, a member of the Andies Flying Circus Team, won on overall points, but she wasn’t the only one who blitzed the gates.
On the men’s side, Doug Howell, Jay Johnson Mike Braun and Jim Stone finished at the top of the standings, with veteran Howell beating Johnson by just six-tenths of a second.
In winning the race, Howell came from behind in the second heat, overcoming both Johnson and Braun to win the day.
Porges, meanwhile, finished ahead of Sophia Berry, Janine Porges, Michelle Hanson and Joanie Lynch.
In the team standings, Andies Flying Circus led the day with 44 points, closely followed by Miramar Dinosaurs (43), Mammoth Masters (42) Das Scheisse Pro (41) and the Individuals (40).
Jamie Callahan, meanwhile, took the Telemark race over Greg Bretz, who did not finish.View more articles in:
