The Mammoth Huskies, coming off a road loss in Boron last week, take on Brentwood High School in Los Angeles tonight (Friday).
Husky fans are hoping for the best, even after last week’s 52-0 loss that dropped the team to 1-5 for the season and 1-1 in conference action.
Boron beat up on the undermanned Huskies behind a stellar performance by quarterback Austyn Fink. The senior went 13-for-20, with five touchdowns. The only blemish on his record was because of Mammoth’s Tyler Wormhoudt, who intercepted Fink in Mammoth’s lost cause.
Wormhoudt, last week’s Mammoth High School “Athlete of the Week” was bottled up by the Boron defense. He carried 20 times for 40 yards—a two-yards-per carry average. Leading the Mammoth offense was Alex Hamilton, who picked up 49 yards on just six carries.
On defense, Mammoth’s Denis Orrick stood with nine solo tackles and one assist, but it wasn’t enough to stop Boron, whose record improved to 5-1, 2-0 in the conference.
Boron opened it up early, taking a 38-0 first-half lead that rendered the third and fourth quarters immaterial.View more articles in:
