Itâ€™ll be some kind of book signing Saturday afternoon, Sept. 25, at the Booky Joint, where John Muir â€śJackâ€ť Laws not only will sign his swell new guidebook, but also will offer some artistic demonstrations.
Laws will sprinkle how-to demos in illustration, painting and sketching at the event, which starts at one oâ€™clock and ends at 3.
Dave Leonard, owner of the bookstore, said Laws is a very entertaining guest, and for the Booky Joint to have him is a real treat.
He said refreshments will be served during the book signing, but the book is a refreshment in itself.
It is called â€śThe Laws Field Guide to the Sierra Nevadaâ€ť and is published in conjunction with the California Academy of Sciences. His subject is the rich variety of Sierra life â€“ trees, wildflowers, ferns, fungi, lichens, fish, reptiles, amphibians, birds, mammals and insects.
