Julie Brown promoted to June Mountain position

Named new GM of  ‘Guest Experience’

June Mountain Ski Area began its transformation into a “family friendly” destination this past week with a new “General Manager of Guest Experience” going to veteran Mammoth Mountain employee Julie Brown.

Brown, the current Ski and Snowboard School Brand Director at Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, will reposition June Mountain as a family friendly destination for winter and summer, according to a news release from Mammoth Mountain.

In her new role, Brown will oversee the Skier Service departments, including ski school, rental, retail, and ticketing and will be responsible for the guest experience throughout the resort.

Brown began her career at Mammoth Mountain as a lift operator in 1979, ski instructor in 1980 and then moved on to such positions as Director of Main Lodge Sports School in 2002, General Manager of Main Lodge in 2003, and General Manager of Canyon Lodge and the Village in 2005.

In 2011, she pursed an opportunity to work with the Ski and Snowboard School as Brand Director, where she has remained since.

She also served on the Professional Ski Instructor Assn. (women) board of directors for nine years, two years on the PSIA Junior Education Team, and 15 years as a PSIA-W Examiner and Trainer.

In addition to her duties, Brown stated, “I am also looking forward to collaborating with the June Lake community to help us all achieve our vision to become California’s Favorite Family Mountain Experience.”

Brown is a native Californian from Thousand Oaks and frequently skied at Mammoth and June Mountain on family trips as a child.  She currently resides in Mammoth Lakes with her husband Stuart, their 14-year-old daughter Katherine, and their dog Holly.

Following a one-year closing, June Mountain will re-open with full winter operations for the 2013-14 season.

June’s lifts are scheduled to open in mid-December.
