Local blood drive a huge success

A BIG “thank you” goes out to all who donated blood at the bi-annual United Blood Services Blood Drive held on May 13, 14, and 15.

The Mammoth Lakes Hospital Auxiliary coordinated the drive, which was held at the Mammoth Fire Department.

Did you know that one unit of blood can help three people and that one out of seven people that go to the emergency room will have to have a blood transfusion? The United States needs approximately 42,000 units of blood A DAY. That’s a whole lot of blood!

Thank you Chief Brent Harper for letting us converge on the fire department for this event. Your crew is wonderful and was very helpful in putting this event together.

Because of the more than 80 volunteer hours that it takes to put this blood drive on, it continues to be a success.  Another thank you goes out to all of the Mammoth Lakes Hospital Auxiliary Volunteers who help to put this together. They worked hard to make sure everyone got processed quickly plus, they are the ones who baked all the yummy cookies that were there. 

Dennis Domaille, you rock!  What a wonderful gift you gave to all the donors—a fish taco dinner. Everyone appreciated that.  Thank you for your generosity.

Mammoth Lakes and the surrounding areas are the greatest place on earth.  Our community continues to give.  Thank you!
