The Mammoth Huskies Girls volleyball team notched another dominating win Thursday night, Nov. 14, at Mammoth High School against AGBU-Canoga Park in the second round of the CIF-Southern Section Division 5AA playoffs.
The Huskies won in straight sets, 25-22, 25-16, 25-17.
The Titans played well in the first set but but the Huskies really started to roll in the second and third sets.
Next up for the Husky girls is another home match on Saturday, against the winner of the match between Coastal Christian and Santa Clarita Christian.
Mammoth's victory Thursday night came in spite of several Husky starters slowed by flu, and opposite hitter Hailey Sanders could not play at all.
However, opposite hitter Emma Peckenpaugh and outside hitter Amanda Kirkeby played their best games of the season, taking the pressure off some of the ailing players.
Kirkeby was especially dominant, scoring 10 points off her serve, two aces, five kills, 11 serve receptions, three digs on defense and basically getting any ball that came near her.
Cassidy Morris dealt 23 assists and middle hitter/blocker Kelly Berger dominated the net, recording 13 kills and three blocks despite being under the weather.
The time of Saturday's match had not been set by Friday.View more articles in:
