Mammoth voters go to the polls

Mammoth and Mono County voters are slowly making their way to the polls today, with voter turnout expected to increase later in the day.

Locally, the races to watch are the closely contested Superior Court Judge race between Mark Magit and Randy Gephart.

For North County voters, the outcome of the Eastern Sierra Unified School District race could profoundly change the makeup of a school board that some blame for getting the district into a deep deficit. Two incumbents are being challenged, and the final vote could change the balance of power in the small district, should two of the three challengers — Bob Tems, John Peters and Matthew Baumann — unseat incumbents Randy Gilbert and Ann Aylesworth.

Also in North County, the race between Mono County Supervisor District 4 candidates Tim Fesko and Tim Hansen has remained tight right to the end. Whoever wins that race will replace appointed interim supervisor Bob Peters, who took took the seat after former District 4 Supervisor Bob Reid died last October.
