Political observers haven’t seen anything quite like it.

It has been 20 years since Mammoth has had eight non-incumbent candidates running for three open Town Council seats. The race for Mono County Sheriff started out as a volatile contest, and then just kept getting more so.

Three candidates—Stacy Corless, Greg Eckert and Kirk Stapp—are running for an open seat on the Board of Supervisors from the Mammoth-only District 5.

In District 1, also Mammoth-only, Bill Sauser and incumbent Larry Johnston—he is the only elected incumbent among all the candidates—are facing off for the second straight election

Two candidates, District Attorney Tim Kendall and Mono County Schools Superintendent Stacey Adler—are running unopposed.

The Mammoth Times has covered the campaigns aggressively, and has brought pointed opinion to the discussion in its “Our View” editorials.

In this document, updated with material as it comes in, we have compiled an on-line election handbook as a user-friendly guide for those who want to keep abreast of the races, as well as for those who may want or need a catch-up.

We have arranged the Election Handbook in chronological order.
