RAW: Snowmobile Avalanche Safety class on March 28-29

March 20, 2014

The Bridgeport Ranger District of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest will present a FREE two-day snowmobile avalanche safety clinic at the Minden Airport Sierra Front Interagency Fire Dispatch Center on Friday, March 28, 2014, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at 2311 Firebrand Circle, in Minden, Nevada. Friday’s attendees are eligible for Saturday’s March 29 on-the snow-practice clinic at the Bridgeport Winter Recreation Area (limit of eight participants). Professional rider, Duncan Lee of LetsRideAdventures, of Truckee, California, will assist with this two-day session. Here’s your chance to ride with a pro!

Snowmobilers’ access to steep, rugged, and high-elevation terrain often places them in areas exposed to high avalanche risk; fortunately, there are ways to stay safe and have fun. Anyone who rides off of groomed trails should attend - even one small piece of information gleaned from this class can make a difference in a having really good powder day or a really bad day if you accidently trigger an avalanche.
