A cold, Alaska-born winter storm on May 7 and May 8 left Mammoth with one of its biggest snow accumulations of the winter and spring of 2014-15, with nearly a foot of snow on the ground in the upper elevations in Mammoth and at least a foot at the 9,000-foot level (where the snow measurements are taken) on Mammoth Mountain. Mammoth Mountain is scheduled to suspend winter operations this weekend, according to its website. More snow is forecast though Friday and Saturday, May 9.—WG
