Veterans gather in Mammoth; low-key ceremony at Fire Station #1

Veterans and their families, along with community members and town leaders, gathered Monday, Nov. 11, for the annual Veterans Day flag-raising at Fire Station #1 on Main Street.

Former Mono County Supervisor Duane "Hap" Hazard offered remarks to a gathering of several dozen people, including most of the forces of both the Mammoth Lakes Police Department and the Mammoth Lakes Fire District.

The event was at 9 a.m., and did not last long.

Unlike last year,when there was a pancake breakfast, this year was very much on the low-key side, but Hazard said plans already are underway for restoring the old Veterand Day Pancake Breakfast tradition for next year,
