With the assistance of the High Sierra Energy Initiative, a partnership between Southern California Edison and the Town of Mammoth Lakes established in January 2005, Aspen Village at Mammoth Creek Townhomes has begun selling its first phase exclusively to Mammoth’s workforce as of Feb. 1, 2009.
Through Southern California Edison’s Multi-family program, Mammoth Lakes supplied compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) for all the first phase units free of charge and will supply CFLs for subsequent phases, as well as a green upgrade lighting package to buyers.
Energy-efficient lighting, ENERGY STAR appliances, recycled carpet and Low-E windows are evidence of the commitment of Mammoth Lakes Housing to provide lower energy costs to the homeowners and a commitment to a clean environment.
Over the past several years, the High Sierra Energy Initiative has provided the Town of Mammoth Lakes, residences and local businesses their expertise, technical assistance and energy-efficient lighting, LEDs and lamps free of charge.
“This is another great example of the strong partnership within the Town of Mammoth Lakes community and the High Sierra Energy Foundation and we are pleased to be bringing world-wide expertise in energy efficiency and renewables to Mammoth Lakes,” said Rick Phelps, Executive Director of the High Sierra Energy Foundation.
“We are really excited to partner with the High Sierra Energy Foundation on providing a higher level of energy efficiency for our latest homes for the workforce of Mammoth Lakes. Green building is the future for California homes and this collaboration allows us to start that future today,” commented Kent Anderson, Development Associate, Mammoth Lakes Housing, Inc.
