MLTPA gets lion’s share of first quarter Measure R funds E-mail
Thursday, 21 May 2009
Town council last night unanimously approved the Tourism & Recreation Commission’s Measure R funding recommendations.  Revenue generated in the first quarter, begun in October, 2008,  amounted to $168,100.

“It’s a cause for celebration, considering all we’re going through [economically],” beamed Tourism & Recreation Director Danna Stroud.

Healthy applause followed council’s unanimous approval of T&R’s recommendations to use the $168,100 toward town bike racks ($3,100, with  $900 contingency), grinding, resurfacing and painting of six courts at the Mammoth Lakes Tennis Club ($6,000, with a $1,000 contingency), cultural and biological studies needed for the CEQA process for the Parks and Recreation Master Plan and Trails System Master Plan ($25,200), the Mammoth Track Project by High Sierra Striders ($27,250, with an additional $25,200 possible), and Mammoth Lakes Trails and Public Access ($100,000, with a match of $50,000 from Rusty Gregory and the Mammoth Mountain Ski Area).
