Friday July 3 Village at Mammoth Fireworks At the Village in Mammoth. Starts at approximately 9:30 p.m. Main Street Midway Events include: an art show in the Footloose parking lot; a skateboard competition at Wave Rave; kids activities and games in front of Schat’s Bakery; a beer garden with band, clowns, interactive booths and food for purchase in front of P3/Base Camp/Lulu’s Boutique; a Chalk It Up competition and theater production in front of the Luxury Outlet Mall. The beer garden and live entertainment will continue all weekend. From 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Free public parking at the Mammoth Lakes Post Office. Second Annual 3rd of July Dunk Tank Part of the “Mammoth Great American 4th of July!” at the Village. Sierra Club Hike to Telescope Peak from Mahogany Flat A gradual 3,200 ft elev gain on good trail to the summit. This will be a long 14 mile roundtrip. Meet at 5 a.m. at ML Union Bank parking lot or at 6:30 a.m. at USFS Visitor Center just south of Lone Pine at Hwys 395 and 136 or 8 a.m. at the trailhead. RSVP required. CNPS Plant Sale The California Native Plant Society, Bristlecone Chapter, Mammoth Region is having a plant sale at Sherry Taylor’s home (107 Sugar Pine Drive in Mammoth) between 9 and 10 a.m. All proceeds go to the Native Plant Society. Friends of the Inyo Hike: Yost Meadow to Glass Creek Meadow Eight-mile trek through spectacular wildflower-filled meadows starts at the Fern Creek trailhead in June Lake, heads up the trail to Yost Meadow, part of the newly designated Owens Headwaters Wilderness. Then the route goes cross-country down to Glass Creek Meadow, one of the area’s hidden gems. Paul McFarland will talk about flora, fauna and geology. A shuttle car brings hikers back to Fern Creek. Dance shows are: Sat 2 p.m., 4 p.m., 6 p.m. & Sun 12 p.m., 2 p.m. Performances are free, but donations can be made to support the newly formed Mammoth Lakes Repertory Theatre.
