Fore! Mammoth Hospital held its 6th annual Cancer Outreach Golf Tournament Friday, June 26, with much success. Proceeds received with great turnout and support from sponsors will fund Mammoth Hospital’s Cancer Outreach Program. Because Mammoth Hospital does not offer primary oncology care, local residents travel out of the area to receive such care. Through donations, the Cancer Outreach Program can financially assist with travel expenses to those cancer patients living or working in Mono County with gas, meals, and lodging needs. Mammoth Hospital would like to thank our community and businesses who generously supported the 6th annual Cancer Outreach Golf Tournament, from our host, Brian Venneman – local cancer survivor, to our title sponsors Mission Linen, Sierra Star Golf Course, all our players, volunteers and sponsors who helped us make this event a huge success! Ehren Goetz, Public Relations Assistant Mammoth Hospital
MLTC thanks... On behalf of the Mammoth Lakes Tennis Club, we would like to extend thanks to the following for their contributions in making our 10th Annual Summer Solstice Tennis Tournament a happy success: Thank you to Karen Kasten of Java Joint for providing our morning coffee. Many thanks to Maggie Wahl and Randi Reppen for buying and preparing our fruit bowls and snacks and for setting up our hospitality tables on Saturday and Sunday. We are grateful to Linda Fox and all the employees of Designs Unlimited for the excellent job embroidering our tournament prizes. Thank you to Whiskey Creek Restaurant for hosting our Players Party on Saturday evening. The food was, as always, excellent and the servers efficient and gracious. Thanks also to tournament volunteers Russ Chessler, Jon Lonne, Sue Love, Carol Sutorius and Paul and Valerie White. A huge thank you to the following for their gift certificate/ donations to our raffle: Roberto’s, Base Camp Café, Hot Chicks Rotisserie, Russell Chessler, Footloose Sports, Belladonna Massage, Crowley Lake Marina, Joel Brown and the many other friends of MLTC. Yours truly, Chuck Scatolini, Tournament Director Gail Lonne, President, Mammoth Lakes Tennis Club
A personal thank you In May I was involved in an accident in which I received a very traumatic injury. Initially I was aided by an employee of Mono County Public Works, along with the Mono County Paramedics, Bridgeport Fire Department and members from the Mono County Sheriff’s Department. At Mammoth Hospital I was sent into surgery and was treated by Doctor Robinson who responded from home. I was admitted for four days and received excellent care from the staff. Over the following weeks, I was assisted by Mono County Paramedics, June Lake Fire Department, along with friends and colleagues. Their assistance was invaluable; from helping me up and down stairs with manpower and specialized equipment, building a ramp to access rooms via wheelchair, having wood cut and stacked in my driveway, etc. The recovery ahead will be hard but I will get back to ‘normal’ as I am now receiving outstanding care from the therapists at the Sierra Park Sports Center. I want to say thank you to everyone. The residents of Mono County are unsurpassed in helping others out, both if it is a friend or just someone who they come across in their personal or professional lives. I also want to send out a huge thank you to my wife and kids, as they did it all for me in my time of need. Family is important in everything life has to offer you: good or bad. My family is the best, I couldn’t ask for anyone better!!! Ralph Obenberger June Lake, Calif.
