New superior courts building Mono County Supervisors Byng Hunt and Tom Farnetti along with town council members Jo Bacon and Wendy Sugimura initiated a series of joint meetings to discuss improvements to the design of the new Superior Courts building that will be located on the civic center site at the southwest corner of Main Street and Sierra Park Road. Although the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) and design team didn’t follow advice provided by the Town’s Planning Commission and Advisory Design Panel, and the design fell short of local expectations, the supervisors and council members agreed it was important to work with the AOC Courts to achieve the best possible outcome for the entire site and entrance to town. Town and county staff will work with the AOC to improve the exterior color and material of the Courthouse, overall landscape design, provide water and power to allow special events at the larger site, and parking lot improvements.
