Matt Graeff heads for Arizona for a career change. File Photo. Officer Matt Graeff has given his resignation from the Mammoth Lakes Police Department, according to Chief Randy Schienle, to begin a new career in Arizona. This creates a unique opening on the police force since, in addition to his regular duties as a sworn police officer, Graeff has served as the School Resource Officer at Mammoth High School. That position will be backfilled within existing departmental staff, but Schienle hopes to begin recruitment immediately for a rookie patrol officer, something already funded for the current fiscal year. The new officer will likely begin within five or six months after training. – CB
