County gets another batch of H1N1 vaccine

Mono County received 500 more doses of the H1N1 flu virus yesterday and is beginning to hold  school-based clinics to vaccinate the county’s elementary school children, according to county officials.

The county’s health officer, Dr. Rick Johnson, also said that the county now has enough vaccine to finish vaccinating  most or all of its other high-risk groups, including pregnant women, caregivers for very young children and healthcare and/or emergency workers who do face-to-face work with the public.

Johnson hopes to complete vaccinating these groups by the end of December and will resume vaccinating school children as soon as the Thanksgiving holiday is over. – WG
