Charges filed in Lakes Basin bear kill

Two misdemeanor counts have been filed against the Victorville man, Roy Flores, who killed a bear in the Mammoth Lakes basin in August, according to Mono County District Attorney George Booth. One count is for the unlawful taking of a bear with a firearm, a violation of the California Department of Fish and Game Code, and the second is for discharging a firearm within a prohibited area, a violation of Mammoth Lakes Town ordinances. Booth said Flores was sent a notice to appear in the Mammoth Court on Dec. 21. – CB
