Monday, 15 February 2010
Word came yesterday afternoon that alpine ski racer Stacey Cook (Mammoth) slid into a fence during a training run at Whistler. She was airlifted and released from the Whistler Polyclinic early in the afternoon after diagnostic X-rays and a CT scan came back negative, according to U.S. Olympic Team Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jim Moeller. She will have some pain and stiffness, he said, but is expected to make a full recovery.

She had this comment on her Facebook: “Hi All- just wanted to let you know I am OK! I knocked my self silly and am trying to figure out if I crashed skiing or was hit by a train. I am quite sore, but am ready to fight! A little muscle soreness wont stop me!”
The  Olympics start tonight with opening ceremonies at 7:30 p.m., and the men’s downhill Saturday at 11:45 a.m. For a complete schedule go to http://www.nbcolympics.com/event-results-schedules/index.html – USST
