Town council candidacy filing extended |

As of Friday, which was the original deadline to file nomination papers for one of three open seats on the Mammoth Lakes Town Council, seven candidates had filed nomination papers, according to Town Clerk Jamie Gray: Tony Barrett, Sharon Clark, John Eastman, Matthew Lehman, Kirk Stapp, Dawn Vereuck and Rick Wood. Gray later announced that because incumbents Neil McCarroll and Wendy Sugimura did not file nomination papers by March 12, the filing period has been extended to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17. All interested registered voters in town aside from incumbents Jo Bacon and Skip Harvey may file as candidates for the office of a member of the council. Gray said she expected an 8th candidate, Allen Blumer, to file his papers soon. - CB
