Knee-jerk reaction?
As he assured us he would, Tony has been running for a seat on Town Council since the day he was dismissed by Mammoth voters. In his latest attack on the Town, he demonstrated his arrogant, know-it-all behavior reminiscent of the dressing down he gave the Planning Commission when he was a Council member. If he had done his homework about storm announcements, he would have learned that the County first responders met for an Emergency Action briefing before the storm and determined a course of action. Mono Country public safety officials jointly recommended to Sheriff Scholl that Reverse 911 be utilized to inform citizens about the impending storm. The Town did not act alone. Seems to me that Tony had the knee-jerk reaction, not the Town.
Broadening his attack on the Town Council's leadership, Tony suggests Mammoth is adrift. He ignores: 1)  the General Plan is done; 2)  Lake Mary Road trail is begun; 3)  MLTPA and Mammoth Nordic are happening; 4) Citizens are participating because the Town is listening...all this since Tony Barrett was defeated. Our community is a community again, depending and relying on each other, versus being at the mercy of visitors, developers and the omnipresent real estate industry.

Monster thanks
In the wake of all the fallout regarding the MONSTER storm I can only speak for myself and my family. I would like to thank all the agencies involved in trying to prepare us. After receiving the 911 call and the update from Hap Hazard, our County supervisor, as well as watching the national news stations like: CNN, The Weather Channel and even [NBC's Today weatherman] Al Roker calling it the worst storm in 50 years, we decided without panic to close our businesses. We felt it was best for the safety of our coworkers. We are grateful that it didn't turn out to be as bad as it could have been! Bottom line: no one can predict the weather, but we can always take precautions. And in this case, I guess your dammed if you do dammed if you don't.
I think we all just have to be thankful that there were no tragedies, and if we all look around at the awesome amount of snow this storm did bring us, we can look forward to a great winter! In closing I would like to also thank our CHP officers for the escort service on U.S. 395 during the worst conditions in the effort to make sure everyone makes it home safe.
