Breaking News - Alpers off the hook for Fish & Game director E-mail
Wednesday, 09 April 2008
It was short lived, but fish farming industry veteran Tim Alpers' noteworthy bid for the office of state director of the Department of Fish and Game came to an end earlier this week in the form of a call from the governor's office, informing him he's no longer in the running for the position. In a phone statement, Alpers said the governor's office also said they were "very appreciative of his interest in the job."
Despite reaching the end of the line in the job's selection process, Alpers was upbeat about the effort, saying he is honored to have been seriously considered for the position, which he described as "the largest resource job in U.S."
"I was glad to go to Sacramento, not only on my own behalf, but also to represent everybody in the Eastern Sierra...which has been woefully underrepresented on these resource issues," Alpers said.
Alpers stated he has no idea who's going to be appointed. "I don't think anybody does yet," Alpers said, but added he is looking forward to working with whomever is selected. -MT
