SUBMITTED PHOTO The Mammoth Lakes Fire Department said it will hold a fund-raising event for Evan Lawrence and his family on April 26 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Fire Station 1 on Main Street. The event will include a barbecue with hamburgers and hot dogs, old fire department t-shirt sales and a car wash. Proceeds will go to the Lawrence family. On March 13, after Evan woke up unable to talk, his mother took him to Mammoth Hospital, where he was immediately airlifted to Loma Linda Children’s Hospital. Evan is still there, fighting multiple infections and multiple medical problems. Evan’s parents, Chad, who works for CDF and is a volunteer with the Mammoth Lakes Fire Department, and Jaimie, who works for Inyo-Mono Title Company, are doing the best they can given the situation. Although Evan’s family has health insurance the costs of being out of town and unable to work are taking their toll. Along with prayers and good wishes, friends of the Lawrence family are asking for the public's help. Inyo-Mono Title Company and Mammoth Sierra Properties have set up a fund. Anyone wishing to donate toward their medical expenses can drop off a check made payable to Chad & Jaimie Lawrence either at Inyo-Mono Title Company (760) 934-3302 or Mammoth Sierra Properties (760) 934-4501, or come to the fire department's event on April 26. -MT
