Mammoth Mountain Ski Area continues to have discussions with Erik Fishburn, the principle developer for Tallus. Rossignol snowboard binding recall
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Rossignol, announced a voluntary recall of the 2007 Rossignol HC snowboard bindings. This includes the HC 750, HC 1000, HC 2000, HC 3000, HC Mini, HC Amber, HC Diva, HC Harmony, HC Sonar, HC Zena and Jones Brown models. According to the recall, t-nuts that attach the buckles to the straps can detach, posing a fall hazard. Consumers who have the effected bindings may take them to a Rossignol snowboard retailer for free replacement t-nuts or contact Rossignol to have a repair kit mailed to them.
Currently, there are no Rossignol snowboard retailers in Mammoth Lakes.

Caltrans remembers lost workers
On the one-year anniversaries of the deaths of three workers, Caltrans reminds drivers that “Slower is Better” in highway work zones. At this time last year, Caltrans worker Djuan bush lost his life on the job due to an errant driver. On November 28, 2007, John Knabenbauer was killed while working in a highway work zone as well. And still, Matthew White lost his life as he worked to repair California's highway system on December 14, 2007.
Caltrans says Californians should proceed with caution wherever a highway is stocked with bright orange cones (“cone zones”) and be especially attentive to highway workers and other vehicles. The occupants of vehicles are at even higher risk as 85 percent of people killed in work zones are drivers or passengers, most commonly in rear-end collisions.

Agriculture #2 in county revenue
The combined agricultural production numbers for 2007 were released in the 2007 Agricultural Crop and Livestock Report totaling $56,903,900. “This is a 17 percent increase from 2006,” said Agricultural Commissioner George Milovich in an address to the Supervisors. The report is a compilation of crop production and estimated values of commodities grown in Inyo and Mono counties.
Inyo County totals for 2007 came to $19,979,550 and included livestock, field crops, miscellaneous crops and Apiary. Total revenues for Mono County for 2007 came to $36,924,350. Second only to tourism, agriculture continues as one of the integral parts of Inyo and Mono counties' economy.

Inyo and Mono counties receive grant
Thanks to Sierra Nevada Conservancy (SNC) grant funding, Inyo and Mono counties are completing a regional land tenure (land ownership) planning process. The goal of this effort is to identify and maximize multiple benefits of future public agency land ownership transfers in the eastern Sierra.
Inyo and Mono counties submitted a Strategic Opportunity Grant proposal to the SNC last year to fund completion of the Land Tenure project. The awarded grant will enable the counties and land agencies to work with the Sierra Business Council and other qualified consultants to educate local residents about agency land policies, seek community consensus on the desire for community expansion, and prepare and present summary workshop findings and recommendations.
