Private well drilled in June Lake E-mail
Tuesday, 04 November 2008
The drilling of personal wells has come up in the past, according to Mono County Environmental Health Director Louis Molina, but it became more timely when an individual recently applied for a permit and drilled a well this year in June Lake.

Mindy Pohlman, General Manager of June Lake Public Utilities Division, requested that County Council Allen Berrey make this a priority. If an ordinance is passed by the County, the purpose of the ordinance revision will be to prohibit the construction of a private well within the boundaries or defined service area of a public water system. There would be some exceptions to this requirement and there would also be an appeal procedure to request a Board hearing for any person who has been denied a permit. The well ordinance revision will require Mono County Board of Supervisor approval. Molina and Berrey will be going before the Board of Supervisors at the November 4 meeting in order to get direction from the Board on this matter. -SP
