The Inyo National Forest is honoring our veterans by waiving the day use fee at South Tufa in the Mono Basin National Forest Scenic Area, for Veterans Day, Tuesday November 11th. Nationwide the Forest Service, BLM and the Park Service will be waiving fees at all day-use sites that day.
This is one of three days annually on which fees are waived - the other two are National Trails Day in June and National Public Lands Day in September.
The national forests are America’s playgrounds that provide healthful outdoor recreation opportunities for millions of Americans every year. "We're encouraging people to get outdoors and enjoy the fall weather by recreating on and exploring their public lands,” said Inyo National Forest Supervisor Jim Upchurch. “Our local public lands provide abundant recreational opportunities for people who like to walk, hike, horseback ride, view wildlife, photograph nature, or enjoy a variety of other outdoor activities.”
Fees will remain in effect for any overnight campgrounds that are still open and wilderness permit reservations.
