A motor sports advocate, road cyclist and climber, Blomgren, 45, began visiting Mammoth as a young girl, staying with her uncle on ski trips.
A manager and owner of a drag racing company in Santa Clarita, Blomgren, the mother of a 24-year-old son, was able to retire at an early age, and moved here as fast as she could.
“When I was 24 or 25, I bought my first piece of real estate in Mammoth. Everybody thought I was crazy, buying a second home before I bought my real home,” she said.
“A bunch of us came up on a girls’ weekend in 2007, and when the other girls were packing up after a three-day weekend, they said, “You’re not going home, are you? I stayed that whole winter and I loved it. I love the snow, love the skiing.”
She began working for the town staff in 2012.
