Yve Evans to perform at Winterfest on Feb. 9

January 18, 2013

The Mammoth Lakes Rotary Club announced that world-renowned artist and entertainer Yve Evans will perform at its Rotary Winterfest on Feb. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at Canyon Lodge.

Yve has been a regular at the Mammoth Lakes Jazz Jubilee and will showcase her talents in honor of Mammoth Lakes Rotary Club “Service Above Self” honorees Ken and Flossie Coulter.

Yve has performed all around the world, including Japan, Canada, Spain and Italy, among many other countries.  There is an intangible quality in her music that gives it a life of its own; life that reaches out and touches the souls of the people that hear it.  Yve Evans’ artistry will perfectly accompany the evening’s honorees.

At Winterfest, outstanding Mammoth Lakes citizens Ken and Flossie Coulter will be named the first Mammoth Lakes Rotary Club “Service Above Self” honorees.  The “Service Above Self” award is presented to an individual or couple who model the motto through their actions in providing outstanding service to the Mammoth Lakes community.  This award is given to those who have demonstrated self-sacrifice, compassion for their fellow man, and significant hands-on involvement in one or more endeavors to improve the quality of life of individuals and the community.

Many in the community know Ken and Flossie, but few know the depth of their many years of involvement in the community.  As volunteers for over 30 years, Ken and Flossie well deserve this award.  Ken and Flossie and three other couples were the volunteer founders of the Mammoth Lakes Jazz Jubilee and in the second year they became the Jubilee’s directors. Ken and Flossie were also involved in many other community activities, including, among many others, membership of the first CERT  (Community Emergency Response Team) class, Flossie’s long-time service in the Lion’s Club and Ken’s service on the Mammoth Unified School Board, as well as being a girl’s softball coach.

Tickets to the event are $100/each and include a ski poker run during the day, a gala dinner with hosted wine and drink, a live and silent auction and the exclusive performance by Yve Evans coupled with a mardi gras themed celebration and festive food, drink and joie de vivre.

All event proceeds will benefit Mammoth Lakes Rotary Club youth and educational activities.  For more information about the event, attendance or sponsorship, please contact Rick Phelps at 760-258-6704 or RickMLRotary@me.com.
