Mono County deputies are investigating the deaths of two mules, found last weekend inside their holding areas.
Although a sheriff’s department spokesperson said, “there was no evidence of foul play, the deaths still puzzled the officers, along with members of the Frontier Pack Train team.
The pack train team told officers they received a call informing them that it appeared two mules were lying dead in their holding area that was set up eight days previously.
The Pack Train confirmed that two mules “had been killed inside their holding area” and looked to have been dead for several days.
A Pack Train employee stated that all the other mules and horses in the holding area were unharmed.
The incident has been forwarded to Mono County Sheriff’s Investigators, along with the law enforcement officers from the U.S. Forest Service, to investigate the cause of death to the two mules.
