Mammoth’s Transient Occupancy Tax

In coming weeks, all residents in Mammoth will be receiving a letter from the Town of Mammoth Lakes notifying them of the existing codes as they relate to TOT, or Transient Occupancy Tax.

TOT is a 13 percent tax that applies to rentals that are under 30 days in duration. While some of the information that will be provided is new, much of it has been in effect for many years and is now going to be more strongly enforced.

It has been a long haul for Dawn Vereuck and her brand-new Mountain Living “design center” along Old Mammoth Road.

It has required considerable derring-do in the world of commercial real estate in Mammoth.

Not only was there an actual physical move from the Minaret Mall near the cinemas. There also a change in name, from Elegant Bath and Kitchen to Mountain Living.

“The word ‘elegant’ in this economy is not exactly inviting,” and ‘Mountain Living’ is for everyone,” she said.
The move itself took six months longer than she had planned originally.

Coldwell Banker raises the ceiling

With the recent remodel to its office building on Main Street, Coldwell Banker Mammoth Real Estate has updated its physical profile and gained a lot of bang for its buck.

The remodel started last September and finished in mid-January. Eric Fishburn and his crew did the remodel. Corinne Brown consulted on exterior colors.

The Coldwell Banker building had a dated interior, with lowered, acoustical-tile ceilings, bead-board walls and nailed wood planking on the floors. Not to mention a nondescript exterior that had become worn.
