Land trade near base of June Mountain?

A proposal by Mono County Supervisor Larry Johnston to trade out a parcel of land near the base of June Mountain Ski Area for another parcel of ground slated for a controversial development project was laid out in more detail Tuesday at the supervisors meeting. “The county doesn’t have a lot of excess funds, but we also don’t have much in the way of debt either,” said Johnston, noting that developing the area close to Main Lodge would incur little controversy from June Lake residents and would make a much better choice than the so-called Rodeo Grounds parcel that some June Lakers oppose for development.  “If it were decided that the Rodeo Grounds should be purchased, we would have to incur debt probably in the form of a “loan,”  Johnston said. “After purchase, there would be an effort to trade the land for land at the June Mountain base.  This base area would be pre-planned with initial entitlements, then sold to a developer (which could be the Mountain or others).”
