Mammoth Nordic, Fischer donates XC skis to kids

Gift goes to Mono County Adapted Phys-Ed

It’s one thing to get hand-me-down cross country ski equipment, but the kids in the Mono County Adapted Physical Education program got the real deal.

The Mammoth Nordic Foundation, along with Fischer Nordic, recently gave the program 23 sets of new Fischer Sprint Crown Junior XC skis, bindings, boots, and poles.

Mammoth Nordic leader Brian Knox said Fischer provided the equipment at cost—$3,500—about half off the suggested retail price.

Also participating in the project was Brian Ellison of Brian’s Bikes and Cross Country Skis, and Dan Hill of Fischer Nordic.

“A warm thank you to Mammoth Nordic, Brian’s Bikes and Cross Country Skis, and Fischer Nordic for setting up our Adapted Physical Education program with this beautiful Fischer XC ski equipment,” said Jim Tabb, the adapted physical education specialist for the Mono County Office of Education.

“Having our own cache of nice new Nordic skis, boots, and poles will allow our students to maximize activity and learning time right in our own back yard.

“The kids seem to really love the freedom and tranquility of skiing out in nature on a regular basis. We’ve already racked up several hours of touring on our new equipment and look forward to endless good times down the road.”
