Memorial services set for Skip Harvey

A memorial service for Skip Harvey has been set for Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. at Canyon Lodge, according to Police Chief Dan Watson.

The service, he said, will begin at 3 p.m. near the bear statues on the lower deck of the lodge.  The service is open to the public.
Details of the arrangements were still being worked out by the family, Watson said, and more details will be forthcoming.
Harvey, 60, died early Monday from complications of throat cancer. He was receiving hospice care at his home in Mammoth. Family and friends were with him at the end, Watson said.
Harvey was a restrauteur (The Base Camp Café), a ski instructor at Mammoth Mountain Ski Area and a two-term councilman and mayor.
