Record High Temps Expected This Week; More Smoke Likely

Staff Writer

Smoke, smoke and more smoke is on the way at least until at least through Wednesday night, along with very high temperatures. The smoke is due to continued southwest winds which are tapping into the smoke produced by the Rough Fire, which added another 12,000 acres this weekend, bringing the total acreage to about 98,000 as of Tuesday morning, Sept. 8. The heat is due to a high pressure ridge that is sitting over the Western United States, trapping heat and allowing the "pressure cooker" effect to reign supreme. The end result is summer-like temperatures that are likely to break records for September - and a lot more smoke for much of this week. — WG
